What makes Steve Imber my best choice?

Dr. Imber has served as a Professor of Special Education for more than 35 years. He has special expertise in matters of inclusion, differentiated instruction, behavior management (including functional behavioral analyses and positive behavior intervention support), evaluation, procedures relative to discipline and anti-bullying strategies. He has conducted extensive research on independent educational evaluations and has been a frequent presenter at local, state, regional and national conferences. He has also been published in a number of nationally referred journals in psychology and special education. He has held regional and national offices in his field.

He has extensive experience conducting detailed independent educational evaluations with children, adolescents as well as adults. He relates well to children and youth and has been effective in working with parents, school administrators, teachers, pediatricians and attorneys.

He is an experienced advocate who utilizes his knowledge about special education regulations to assist children and youth in meeting their unique needs. He has served as an evaluator, consultant and advocate for more than 35 years.

His training, credentials, knowledge, broad and extensive experience, his ability to relate to other professionals and parents makes him a valuable and unique resource for those who utilize his services.

Although Dr. Imber has served as an evaluator, consultant and ‘expert witness’ in various matters from several different states, his practice is primarily in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Dr. Imber has worked with several different types of clients. For more than 35 years, Dr. Imber has worked with parents on matters concerning emotional as well as behavioral challenges of their children and adolescents. He has addressed the academic needs of children and youth with disabilities through independent educational evaluations, advocacy and consultation. He attends evaluation and IEP team meetings and offers an array of consultation services pertaining to the education of children with disabilities. He continues to assist students with attention deficit disorders, autism, cognitive delays, emotional/behavioral disabilities, learning disabilities and other challenges. He also provides evaluation and consultation services for adults with disabilities. Dr. Imber has served as a part-time special education administrator in school and hospital settings. He has worked as a special education consultant, evaluator and school psychologist for public as well as private schools. He has provided consultation to general as well as special education teachers, school principals and special education directors. Additionally, he has served on evaluation and IEP teams for public and private schools as a special education consultant and school psychologist. He works with pediatricians to address the needs of the patients. Dr. Imber has served as an independent educational evaluator on behalf of children and youth represented by attorneys who practice in the family court. He has also served as an evaluator in matters of criminal court. He has conducted readability analyses on the Miranda Warning. He also has extensive experience in working with attorneys who represent children and youth with disabilities through special education due process hearings. Dr. Imber has also testified on numerous occasions in special education due process hearings, in family as well as federal court on matters pertinent to DCYF. He has testified several times in district and superior court in criminal matters.
